Harrison, I believe the time to file an amendment to your 2009 return has passed. Check with the IRS though, or whomever prepared your tax return.
You can also go to http://irs.gov and look for the specifics on the first time home buyer tax credit there.

I’m going to email you also in case you don’t get this right away. Question: For the first time buyers tax credit and I make %60,000 a year, is that too high? Is it like MSHDA where your income has to be low?

From what I remember you could qualify for an FHA mortgage 2 years after a bankruptcy discharge. If you will write back with your email address I’ll contact a FHA mortgage broker for you and ask if that has changed and notify you if there has been a change.

Hello Arocon,

You don’t state what city (or township) you are in, so I can only answer for the areas near me. If there was a tag stating you need an occupancy certificate, then yes you do. Since the inspector has already been out to the home and has a list of repairs go down to the city and see what you can do to occupy the property legally. You may also want to consider asking the seller to do some or all of the repairs for you. (It never hurts to ask)

Do i need occupancy certificate if i buy a forclose house which has attached a tagged to require occupancy certificate. I was try to buying a house and did inspection by city inspector but they are giving many works which is exceeding my limits. What can i do?

Jerri, I’m not sure by the bit of information that you left if you qualify or not. I suggest you talk with the person who prepares your income tax returns and give them all the pertinent timelines.
