Most frequently asked question this year: “Is there down payment assistance left in Michigan?”

March 22nd, 2010 · No Comments · macomb county mi real estate market, mortgages in michigan, tips for home buyers

Yes.  In Michigan there is a program called MSHDA that still has down payment (and closing cost) assistance to home buyers.  There are income limits, however they have become more generous over the years.  There are also purchase price limits, but as with the income they are also higher than in years past.

For example: A single person or family of 2 in Macomb County  can have an income of under $71,000 to qualify for the MSHDA program.  The purchase price limit in Macomb, Oakland & Wayne counties is $224,500.

You still need to be able to qualify for a mortgage, so please feel free to give me a call or email me if you need assistance in finding a mortgage lender that is also familiar with the MSHDA program.
