If you’ve been trying to purchase a condo using an FHA mortgage then you’ve
probably run in in to the new HUD rules regarding them.  One website that I’ve
found extremely handy for my condo buyers is this one. It is so much easier
to first search for HUD approved condo  sites and then do a search for
available condos in sites that are already approved.

One change I noticed while searching for the approved sites is this:   If a condo
complex is approved now based upon previous criteria that approval seems to
expire in December of this year.   After the expiration date the condo complex
will probably have to reapply for approval using FHA and HUDs new requirements.

Hopefully the association companies and homeowners in the condo complexes
will be proactive and start the process well before the expiration dates.

One tip:  Search using zip code and it is much more accurate.
